About Pumpkin - catering experience and expertise
Pumpkin was set up by the two of us in 2000. Good food and fine wine are our two main passions in life and we feel lucky that we can combine our business with our hobby.
Deborah’s first cooking job was as a chalet girl in Switzerland in 1988, followed by stints in other ski resorts in Australia and Canada. She spent a couple of years working for Egon Ronay’s Guides before moving to Searcy’s, one of the big London catering companies. In 1996 she set up her own catering business which then became Pumpkin when John joined the company.
John has always been a keen cook but until 2000 had never cooked professionally. He left his job as a planning & production manager to join Pumpkin. For the first two years he took a part-time City & Guild’s Diploma in Professional Cookery, passing with distinction.
Originally based in London, we relocated Pumpkin to Kent in 2003. We now cater for functions in Kent, London and surrounding areas. We currently cater for around 150 functions a year in a variety of venues that range from community halls to royal palaces.
We are a registered food business with Canterbury City Council.
